Darren Markey is a prolific, award winning, critically acclaimed writer for screen and stage. In 2002 Darren completed his first screenplay, LILLY - travelling from his home town of Melbourne to Los Angeles to begin his journey as writer/producer. Darren now has a refined, entertaining slate of screen projects - with more to come.
Darren was screenwriter/associate producer on the supernatural thriller, THE UNLIT (aka WITCHES OF BLACKWOOD), shot in Blackwood and Lorne, Victoria - released world wide in 2020. Darren is writer/producer of the supernatural horror/romance MAGPIE. Footage for this project has been shot in Trentham, Victoria and taken to Cannes Film Festival (Marche Du Film) with a view to attracting international interest.
Darren's screenplay for AT FIRST LIGHT (aka ONLY BLOOD) has been optioned by Moonflower Picture, New South Wales - and is currently in pre-production, with shooting slated for late 2025.
Darren has worked extensively as a script consultant for screen and stage projects, and is a qualified trainer.
Darren is also co-founder and director of LORNE FILM, a film entity committed to stimulating independent Australian film culture and commerce.
