Darren Markey is a prolific, award winning, critically acclaimed writer for screen and stage. In 2002 Darren completed his first screenplay, LILLY - travelling from his home town of Melbourne to Los Angeles to begin his journey as writer/producer. Darren now has a refined, entertaining slate of screen projects - with more to come.
Darren was screenwriter/associate producer on the supernatural thriller, THE UNLIT - released world wide in 2020, and is writer/producer of the supernatural horror/romance MAGPIE - currently being shot in Central Victoria, Australia.
Darren has another two feature film projects currently in development. THE WOMAN BY THE WATER is a fantasy/adventure set to shot around the Geelong and Lorne regions. AT FIRST LIGHT is a fantasy/thriller planned to be shot in the Flinders Ranges region of South Australia.
Darren has worked extensively as a script consultant for screen and stage projects, and is a qualified trainer.
Darren is also co-founder and director of LORNE FILM, a film entity committed to stimulating independent Australian film culture and commerce.
